Mit 36 handkolorierten Aquatintatafeln (einschließlich Frontispiz) und Textholzschnittten, jeweils von I.R. und G. Cruikshank, und 3 beidseitig bedruckten, mehrfach gefalteten Notentafeln. Charakteristisch für den zweiten Druck der Erstausgabe mit Fußnote auf Seite 9, jedoch ohne Paginierung auf der ersten Notentafel. „The success was instantaneous and unprecedented. ‘It took both town and country by storm.’ [..]. Einband leicht berieben und minimal rissig, Ecken etwas bestoßen, Seiten zart gebräunt, Aquatintaabbildungen je mit Abklatsch auf der gegenüberliegenden Textseite und mimalem Durchschlag, Seiten nur sehr vereinzelt und minimal, Tafelränder, Notentafeln und vorhandene Seidenhemdchen leicht bis mäßig stockfleckig, letztere zudem zum Teil etwas knickspurig, einige Seiten und Tafeln am Kopfsteg mit leichtem Wasserfleck (minimal gewellt, meist nicht gebräunt, weder Bild- noch Textberührung). Gutes Exemplar mit ausgesprochen schönen, in kräftigen Farben erhaltenen Aquatinta-Radierungen. Characteristic of the second printing of the first edition with the footnote on page 9, but without pagination on the first plate with sheet music. Binding slightly rubbed and with minimal fissures, corners slightly bumped, pages lightly darkened, aquatint illustrations each with set-off on the opposite text page and minimal show-through, only very few pages minimally, aquatint and sheet music plate margins as well as Japanese tissue paper slightly to moderately foxed, the latter also partially creased, top margin of some pages and plates with a slight water stain (minimally wavy, rarely darkened, neither image nor text affected). Good copy with exceptionally beautiful aquatint etchings preserved in strong colours.
