Hondius, Jodocus: Nova Europae descriptio Auctore Iodoco Hondio. [altkolorierter Kupferstich, gerrahmt]. (Jodocus Hondius, eigentlich Josse de Hondt, geboren am 14. Oktober 1563 in Wakken, Flandern, gestorben am 12. Februar 1612 in Amsterdam. Flämischer Kartograph und Verleger).

Altkolorierte Karte Europas (Grenz- und Landschaftskolorierung) um 1610. Mit Index, Entfernungsangabe und Titelkartusche, beschreibendem Text mit geografischen und biblischen Informationen. Labrador, Grönland und Island sind neben der mythischen Insel Frislandt westlich von Island abgebildet, mit schöner Staffage, mehrere Segelschiffe, Meerestiere, Seeungeheuer. Professionell in teils vergoldetem Holzrahmen hinter Glas/Passepartout gerahmt, rückseitig Glassichtfenster. Nicht ausgerahmt. Maße Abbildung: 37,5 x 51,0 cm. Maße Rahmen: 59,0 x 70,0 cm. Rückseitig Text in lateinischer Sprache. Sehr guter Zustand.
Hand-colored map of Europe (border and landscape coloring) circa 1610. With index, distance markings, and title cartouche, descriptive text with geographical and biblical information. Labrador, Greenland, and Iceland are depicted alongside the mythical island of Frisland west of Iceland, with attractive figures, several sailing ships, sea creatures, and sea monsters. Professionally framed in a partially gilded wooden frame behind glass/passe-partout, with a viewing window on the reverse. Not examined out of the frame. Image dimensions: 37.5 x 51.0 cm. Frame dimensions: 59.0 x 70.0 cm. Text on the reverse in Latin. Very good condition.
