Mit Portrait von Samuel Johnson als Frontispiz im ersten Band, gestochen von James Heath. Wörterbuch in dreispaltigem Druck. Einbände berieben und beim ersten Band Außenfalz je eingerissen (Vorderdeckel daher gelockert), Ecken etwas bestoßen, Rücken leicht rissig und leicht aufgehellt sowie beim ersten Band etwas fleckig, Vorsätze gering leimschattig, Seiten minimal gebräunt und fast durchweg leicht bis stellenweise mäßig stockfleckig. Insgesamt gutes Exemplar. 9th edition, corrected and revised. English language edition. Leather binding of the times with five raised bands, gilt embossed title and book decoration on spine, as well as edges marbled by hand. With a portrait of Samuel Johnson as frontispiece in volume 1, engraved by James Heath. Dictionary printed in three columns. Covers rubbed, joints with tears (front cover of volume 1 therefore a bit loosened), spines a bit brightened, fissured and with some stains, endpapers a bit glue shaded, pages minimally darkened and nearly throughout with light to occasionally moderate foxing. Altogether good copy.
