Im Jahr der Erstausgabe, die in Pesaro von Cesano publiziert worden war, erschienen. Italienischsprachige Ausgabe. CNCNE 10432. Graesse II, 91. Mit der großen Druckermarke als Titelvignette in Holzschnitt (ca. 16 x 12 cm) sowie weiteren Vignetten in Holzschnitt (unter anderem zu Beginn jedes weiteren der insgesamt 7 enthaltenen Teile) und Holzschnittinitialen. Aristotelisch ausgerichtete Rhetorik des florentinischen Adligen und erklärten Antagonisten der Medici, Bartolomeo Cavalcanti. Während der Belagerung von Florenz auf Seiten der Verteidigung, ging Cavalcanti nach der Ermordung des Alessandro de’ Medici ins freiwillige Exil, wo er seinen Widerstand nunmehr gegen dessen Nachfolger, Cosimo de’ Medici, allerdings fortführte. Er stand unter anderem in den Diensten von Ercole II. de l’Este, Paul III. (Alessandro Farnese) und Ottavio Farnese. Einband berieben und fleckig, Pergamentbezug an der Außenkante des Vorderdeckels aufgeplatzt, Vorsätze etwas knickspurig und mit kleinen Wurmlöchern bzw. Einrissen, sorgfältig mit Papier hinterlegte Randfehlstelle im Titelblatt (mit Tintenresten an den Rändern und minimaler Textberührung), Titelblatt sowie Seiten vorwiegend in den Stegen leicht bis vereinzelt mäßig stockfleckig, auf den ersten Seiten wenige, alte Randmarkierungen in Tinte. Insgesamt gutes Exemplar. Published in the year of the first edition. Italian language edition. Vellum binding of the times with old handwritten title on spine. Title page with printer’s mark in wood cut (ca. 16 x 12 cm) as well as other woodcut vignettes and initials within the text. Aristotelian orientated Rhetoric authored by the Florentine aristocrate and avowed Medici antagonist Bartolomeo Cavalcanti. During the siege of Florence supporting the defending side, Cavalcanti chose voluntary exile after the assassination of Alessandro de’ Medici, wherefrom he continued his resistance to the Alessandro’s successor, Cosimo de’ Medici. Amongst others Cavalcanti had been serving Ercole II. de l’Este, Paul III. (Alessandro Farnese) and Ottavio Farnese. Binding rubbed and a bit stained, vellum partially burst at the edges, endpapers with some crease marks and small wormholes resp. tears, defect to the title page neatly backed with paper (title minimally affected), pages throughout (mainly concerning the margins) with some light to moderate foxing, first pages’ margins with few old markings in ink. Altogether good copy.
